Anyway, I've been wanting to tell you guys about this for a very, very long time, and now I finally can!
Touchstone (a division of Simon & Schuster) will tentatively release my book in Fall 2012, which sounds like it's a long time away, but really, it's only the gestation period of two slightly premature babies. And if you're a time-traveler, then it can be as soon as you want it to be. It can be now!
If you're not a time traveler, here are some helpful time-frame comparisons to make the book's publication date seem not as far away:
So really, it isn't actually that far away. And I'll keep updating here in the meantime.
The book will contain roughly 50% new material. The other 50% will be posts I've published on this site already, but some of the posts that did not previously contain illustrations will be illustrated. It will be basically just like my blog in book-form (illustrated short stories, guides, etc.), but it will have at least an attempt at an organizational structure, probably.
There isn't really an appropriately climactic way to end this announcement, so here's a picture of some shapes:

This is less than 3/4 of an elephant pregnancy!!! (Which, if you don't know, is 22 months; I think I would die before I could give birth.) Anyway, that gives me plenty of time to save up enough money to buy a whole case of books. My Christmas shopping for 2012 will already be done!

When you said "Touchstone will *tentatively* release my book" I took it to mean they were unsure if they really wanted to so I drafted this very angry letter full of exclamation points and fire that were doused by my tears. Then I realized it probably meant the time frame was tentative and I got *really* happy and bought a puppy but I can't take care of him in my 8 x 10' room so I gave him to a professor who *really* wanted another puppy and everyone was happy and nobody died.

This is excellent because Billy Blanks teaches at a gym by my house so I can just kidnap him and force him to do Tae Bo in my basement with me for a year and a half so I can save money for your book.

Please include "The year Kenny Loggins ruined Christmas" in your book. Last Christmas it was added to our regular rotation of Christmas Eve readings and we had to pull it up on the TV using the PS3 web brower. Turning book pages will be much easier than scrolling up and down on the TV!
